“The new cabin space in all classes is inspired by the Polish landscape. Vibrant, deep blues emanate perfectly from the LOT brand, while the addition of copper alludes to the warmth of the Polish sun. The design follows business trends, however, as one of the oldest and most recognisable Polish brands in the world, we do not forget to include touches from our cultural heritage”, Izabela Leszczyńska, Director of Product Development and Customer Experience Department at LOT Polish Airlines, talks about the experience of future travel in the upcoming 787-8 cabin interiors.

The entire cabin of the Boeing 787 fleet will be equipped with new seats from RECARO Aircraft Seating in LOT Business Class (CL6720 model), LOT Premium Economy Class (PL3530 model) and LOT Economy Class (CL3810 model).  Recaro Aircraft Seating is a leading German manufacturer of seats for aircraft and passenger trains. Seats of the CL3810 series (LOT Economy Class) will be manufactured at the factory in Poland. LOT Polish Airlines and Recaro cooperation is a long-term one, as the company will be supplying seats for all wide-body aircrafts’ including those that will join Polish flag carrier’s fleet in the future.

The CL6720, PL3530 and CL3810 series seats materialise our commitment to providing comfortable travel experience in all classes. We are confident that this collaboration will establish new standards and reflect our dedication to making the journey even better for passengers”,adds Izabela Leszczyńska.

The seating configuration in LOT Business Class will change to 1-2-1, thus giving each passenger access to the aisle at any point during the journey. Each and every seat will be furnished with an individual door, offering the utmost degree of privacy. Passengers will enjoy more space and additional storage for small items. Likewise, there will be more space for personal items in LOT Premium Economy Class, whereas the new seat shape and spacing will make aisle access easier. LOT passengers on long-haul flights will also benefit from access to a state-of-the-art entertainment system. The Boeing 787-8 fleet will be upgraded to feature 4K resolution screens of 17.3 inches in LOT Business Class and 13.3 inches in LOT Premium Economy and LOT Economy Class. 1. Four Seasons announces a new luxury resort in the Dominican Republic

Four Seasons, the world’s most famous luxury hotel brand, announced plans for the development of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia, a sustainable luxury destination located on a 60-acre (24 hectare) site along the pristine beachfront of Playa Esmeralda in northeastern Dominican Republic, along the southern shores of Samaná Bay. Featuring a tropical modernist design by Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld, the resort will set a new standard of natural, sustainable elegance for sophisticated travellers from around the globe. The property will include a 95-key resort and 25 Private Residences of three- and four-bedroom units, all located steps of the beach. A site of breathtaking natural beauty, Tropicalia is the private estate of the Cisneros family featuring a diverse ecosystem of white-sand beaches; crystalline, aquamarine water and coral reefs; mountains, forests, mangroves, lagoons and rivers; a working coconut plantation; and an organic farm. Currently the Dominican Republic’s most luxurious property is Amanera, so the new Four Seasons property will be a nice addition to the island’s luxury travel market.

2. The ultra-luxe Aman & One&Only hotel brands are coming to Mykonos, Greece

According to Greek City Times, the popular island of Mykonos might soon welcome two new resorts managed by two of the world’s most exclusive hotel brands, Aman and One&Only. With Arab funds in excess of 200 million euros, the investment company Monterock International is currently exploring the two new hotel projects. The first project concerns a new – and more advanced in terms of planning – development in Mykonos for a third One&Only Resort in Greece (after two brand new One&Only resorts in Asteria Glyfadas and Kea are expected to open next year). Amounting to more than 81 million euros, the development concerns the functional amalgamation of five neighboring properties in the off-plan area “Kalafati – Kato Vouni” in Mykonos and has the aim of creating a new hotel complex. The other project is for another luxury resort, this time under the signature of the luxury brand of Aman (it will become the second Aman in the country after Amanzoe in the Peloponnese) although very little is known as this time about the concept, except for its location in the Karabetis area. Both the Aman and the One& Only Resort will be set on Mykonos’ southern shores, which are not as developed yet as the island’s western part.

3. Six Senses opens its second property in the Maldives

Six Senses Kanuhura – the Six Senses’ brand second resort in the Maldives, after Six Senses Laamu – is located in one of the most pristine corners of the Lhaviyani Atoll, a 40-minute seaplane ride from the capital Male. The property features 91 beachfront and overwater villas, including 12 new one- and two-bedroom Beach Retreats and the three-bedroom Beach Reserve. The laid-back tropical island feel has inspired the elegant architecture, while the interior design takes its cue from the naturally vibrant colors of the surrounding Maldivian nature. Home to one of the largest natural beaches in the Maldives, the resort encompasses another two white-sand private islands, one for intimate desert island dining and the other for the ultimate castaway escape. The dining outlets, as well as the organic gardens, where a microgreens nursery mingles with the beauty of wild orchids, have been enhanced under the Six Senses ethos. As couples enjoy romantic moments gazing at the sunsets at the new multi-deck Point restaurant and bar, younger guests can discover their creativity or more of the island and marine life at the Grow With Six Senses kids club and teenagers can take refuge at the Island Hideout – a space specifically designed for them.

4. Rosewood enters New Zealand with the addition of Robertson Lodges

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts is embarking on a journey to New Zealand with Robertson Lodges, a distinguished collection of three resorts, each offering a unique and luxurious escape. As of December 1, 2023, Rosewood Kauri Cliffs, Rosewood Cape Kidnappers and Rosewood Matakauri will join the Rosewood portfolio. Capturing New Zealand’s unique geography, the three properties provide for the ultimate journey across the North and South Island, together offering access to its expansive coastline, rolling hills, soaring mountains and more. Founded by philanthropists Julian and Josie Robertson in 2001, the three resorts have garnered a reputation as some of New Zealand’s top accommodations providing bespoke and warm hospitality set against stunning backdrops. Under Rosewood’s management, the quintessential spirit of each property and the collection at large will live on, reinforced by the brand’s intuitive approach to service and experiential programming. With great respect for the heritage of the properties and the foundation that the Robertson family has built, Rosewood will carefully preserve and sustain the friendly service style and care for native culture that have defined these destinations over the decades.

Renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma conceptualized the overall design direction and interiors of the hotel, breathing new life into traditional Japanese architecture and the beauty of the Yoshiki-en temple garden with modern aesthetics to create a rare luxury stay experience for guests. Eurowings Discover is now Discover Airlines. With its new brand identity, the airline emphasizes its position as the Lufthansa Group’s quality leisure carrier in Germany. The Discover Airlines brand stands for the joy of traveling, discovering, and rediscovering beautiful places and experiences. Ten A320s and 13 A330s will be based at Frankfurt, operating routes to 33 short and medium-haul, and 17 long-haul destinations, while five A320s will be based at Munich, offering flights to 23 destinations next summer.

Today: White Desert announces an epic around the world trip (7 continents in 21 days)

The pioneers of luxury travel in Antarctica, White Desert, announced the launch of another iconic guest experience, White Desert World. Seizing on their award-winning expertise in exploring hard to reach destinations, White Desert World will offer extraordinary opportunities for unique, adventure travel. The first adventure to be announced is an epic 21-day journey that will take guests to 10 iconic destinations, across seven continents: spanning the globe from fabled Easter Island in the middle of the Pacific, ending in the icy wilderness of Antarctica.

The journey will be as diverse as it is luxurious. Drawing on two decades of adventure travel as well as aviation and luxury hospitality expertise, the team have hand-picked each destination. Co-Founder and CEO of White Desert, Patrick Woodhead explains “These countries have been chosen because they are unusual, many are hard to reach destinations and they all epitomise the height of adventure without sacrificing a luxurious experience.”

Starting in Mexico City, guests will then travel to Colombia, Easter Island, Fiji, Borneo, India, Turkey, Namibia, South Africa. Guests will see orangutans and tigers, immerse themselves in Colombia’s hidden beauty, and watch the sun rise over the desolate dunes of Namibia’s Skeleton Coast. The journey will finish with White Desert’s signature trip – into Antarctica. In fact, guests will have the choice of two endings to this incredible journey. Guests can choose either White Desert Antarctica’s ‘Greatest Day’ trip into the 7th Continent where they’ll have a few hours on ice or there’s a chance to extend their stay for a further five days in Antarctica before flying back to Cape Town (numbers strictly limited). Below is a video highlighting the different destinations that will be visited during the White Desert World trip.

White Desert World will focus on offering authentic, local experiences and highlights will include Caribbean cooking in Cartagena, a graffiti street art tour of Getsemani and a sailing trip to Club de Pesca for a night of rum, chocolate and salsa music. Other activities will include sampling the best food and drink offerings, experiencing epic street parties and the opportunity to join in with local traditions. These will be coupled with off-the-beaten track city tours, bustling market visits, and collaborations with artisans and musicians; while expert guides will offer guests an adventure of a lifetime.

Guests will travel around the world in a unique Boeing 757-200 set up in a private configuration with 50 lie-flat seats. All air operations will endeavour to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) where possible and the White Desert World journey will be fully off-set. Indeed, White Desert have been carbon neutral since 2007 and this is an important tenet of all of their operations. White Desert are currently implementing a seagrass meadow planting project, which will help them be even more progressive in their sustainability and conservation efforts.

White Desert World’s 7 Continent Adventure is available for a maximum of 50 guests and will take place from 12 January to February 4, 2024. White Desert World’s team will be traveling alongside the group and experienced local guides will be supporting on the ground in each destination. ABOUT WHITE DESERT WORLD

White Desert World was conceived in 2023 off the back of a travel boom post-Covid. With the popularity of White Desert trips offering intimate and bespoke group access to the harshest and most pristine environment of Antarctica, many guests started to demand the opportunity to travel further afield and for longer with those that created White Desert. White Desert World have announced their inaugural 21 day adventure but plan to add more to the portfolio in the future.

ABOUT WHITE DESERT ANTARCTICA

White Desert was established by record-breaking polar explorer Patrick Woodhead and his wife in 2005, with Patrick now acting as the driving force behind the business. Born out of a desire to allow people other than scientists and polar explorers to see the wonders of the interior of Antarctica, the company has been established for 18 years and employs over 120 people from 17 different nationalities. Winner of 5 World Travel Awards, White Desert now comprises luxury camps: Whichaway, Wolf’s Fang and Echo (which I reviewed here). The company is the only operator to fly guests out of South Africa (Cape Town) direct to the White Continent, managing and operating a unique blue ice runway.

Founded with environmentally conscious principles at their core, carbon neutral since 2007, White Desert have diversified over the last two years and now also use their aircraft to transport scientists to their Antarctic research stations. White Desert are currently leading the field with testing sustainable aviation fuels across their fleet. For more details on White Desert’s Environmental Policy visit the website here.
